Here is the second attempt of the day. This one is a 16x20 Still standing in front of the black bamboo. The thing that caught my eye here was the very thin stalks of the plant and the way it cut up the background. I also liked the extreme contrast of the black bamboo against the backlight grass and plants behind. I worked on this idea and technique of building the background with thick paint and then scratching through it with the knife to the black canvas all day and got 6 paintings of different sizes started and one collage. There is so much beautiful bamboo at Kanahapaha. Several people were painting it .
